Overview
Overview
Hart is a health and wellness product that empowers people to have control of their health by providing a clear picture of how they’re doing. The challenges faced in this industry are the compliant regulations and technical limitations for transferring data from the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) database to the platform, and the sensitivity around Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).
By partnering with our user researchers, we evaluated the pain points of our product and executed on the future evolution of the designs.

The dashboard represented all things a patient would see from a health information perspective. It displayed a snapshot of one’s activity, sleep, and nutritional progress based on integrations with third party services. It also acted as a gateway to their health records, visits, and provided a line of communication to the patient’s healthcare providers.
I wanted to address the Moment cards, which showed a quick view of the patient’s activity, nutrition, and sleep. For example, the previous moment card for activity showed the level of activity over time. There was no indicator of what time the patient’s day started and when it ended. The cards also didn’t show the progress versus goals for the day.

Health records show important information such as one’s vitals, lab results, immunizations, and more. This data is provided from interoperability between the Hart platform and the EMR systems that hospitals and other health practices use. To place emphasis on the different sections and create stronger visual hierarchy, I introduced iconography to go with the labels.

The Visits feature displayed any upcoming/previous visits or hospitalizations a patient may have been through. This feature also enabled them to find and schedule a visit with their healthcare providers. I updated the hierarchy and added iconography to place emphasis on key information like date, time, location, and any forms that needed to be completed.

Patients often had questions about their medication or symptoms. Our messaging feature gave them the opportunity to privately chat with healthcare providers to address their needs.

The profiles feature allowed patients to research and find nearby specialists. They’re able to read specialist summaries, see reviews of their services, schedule an appointment, and gave them the ability to contact these specialists.
